Following a fairly catastrophic car failure last week (gear box and radiator need replacing) I find myself upgrading the boat stereo system to one which includes iPod head function as well as bluetooth hands free. The question is, where to mount the microphone for best reception. Should I aim for the companionway in the hope that I can sail/talk at the same time, or accept internal only calls and place it for comfort in the cabin? Anyone tried this on a boat?

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should :)

You don't need to keep your hands on the wheel on a boat, so why have a hands-free phone?
