Handheld VHF

The HX-270 won "BEST ON TEST" in the recent PBO hand held review.

Great price, almost half that of an M71.
As an end user you will see no real difference between 6 and 5 w.
The antenna on the M71 is short and there for this will have an effect on performance.

I have used and sold both, in terms of spec the M71 is second to none on the market but in real terms...........read the review would be my advice.

Also battery type is very important.
Many, inc me, have raved about how good Lithium Ion is but it would seem after a few years in the market it is not all it was cracked up to be.

If your coming to the boat show I would be happy to show you around ahnd held VHF's on a dealers stand to help.

I have the Entel - great piece of kit and fully waterproof!

Really good battery life too.

Hi Brendan,

PBO highlighter some of the failings such as short shelf life, failure to take a charge if stored to cold as well as a few others.

Well worth a read even if it is only the battery info.

Some very interesting and not well known points
