Hand Held Compass

every time we got to a new marina we use it to line up the satalite dish.

Love it:D
Hactually
I,m a little suprised how many of you/us have one on board
I was expecting comments like
'Chucked it the bin years ago use me great big plotter'
Or
'Use me big huge plotter connected to me autopilot'
:)

Ref the article in MBM
I was kinda just thumbing through the Mag after just hearing it flop through the letterbox along with a small forest full of things.
Mostly glossy leaflets offering me Amazing Bargains and gadgets, prizes I have 'won' but mostly windowed envelopes from my Creditors!
So I came upon a picture of this bod pointing a handheld at Puffin Island at the nothern end of the Menai Strait --- 'me patch'!

But stranger than that, the operative of said handy comp was aiming at the Red perch I have aimed at loads of times
Years ago, I figured out that if I lined up said perch with 'B2' and used a third bearing on a chimney stack on Anglesey, said Plot/Fix was just right to get me a shorcut over a sandbank at LWN to save me going around Puffin Island

Nothing dramatic or unusual about that in itself
But it set me wondering when the MBM mob had visited My/Our area!

Without so much as a 'by your leave' the cheeky buggers
Then again it might be of of em 'photoshop' carry on's
Cheaper innit with all the cutbacks an that there;)

Anyway, I suppose it aint 'my patch' but everybodies!!!:D

Anyway, one thing
Nobody seems to have been 'in the mire'!
Deffo, I have a few times
Reminds me of me school report most years
'Could do better':)

Yes one came with the boat. Every now and then when I'm bored or cogitating I look around and I notice this strange looking object in its teak holder and remember I have it. I think I took it out and looked at it a few years back........
