Interesting idea.

What kind of boat do you have and will you be subject to the Schengen 90/180 rule?

Could be wrong but I suspect there are not that many liveaboards doing this so you could get a bigger response in Scuttlebutt. Additionally, many East Coast sailors go to the Baltic and that way so you could find a font of information in that forum.

Looking forward to hear how you get on.

Who knows, may do a similar thing with the Walton based boat. It is too beamy for UK inland waterways but should be OK in Europe.

Hamburg is a fantastic city state. The city centre is not too big, you can walk round it easily It is quite liberal (for quite read very, very) and the local football ultras are pro-diversity, pro-immigration and host the FIFI Wild Cup (For places not recognised by FIFA). The Reeperbahn is still there, is a bit of a tourist destination with cabarets and live music.

Great Music scene, quite a few fantastic museums and cultural venues, lots of canals, some quirky stuff like Miniatur Wunderland, airport with links to UK.
