I'm meeting some friends for a few beer mid-week in Bursledon, not sure if i should drive or take the boat, what are the options for berthing apart from Muddys, that a local / staggering distance.

If you go to Moodys you'll have the Doghouse in the marina, The Spinaker, right opposite plus the Jolly Sailor a short walk away. There's 3 for you! Port Hamble Marina is relatively near to Hamble village.Nearer to Hamble river mouth though.
