There has been much going on with the administration of the moorings on the river Hamble and those who already have a mooring will be only too aware. Many others however should also know that while there has always been a long waiting list for moorings it has transpired that last season not all moorings were let. This may be because certain moorings can only take short or shallow draft boats. The point is however that there are afordable moorings to be had if you can be persistant enough with thye Harbour Master. There is also a scheme that allows sub letting should a mooring not be in use for a period of time. This is also run by the Harbour Master with 90% going back to the main user. The sublet is at the standard mooring rate. Filling all available berths is to all berth holders advantage as it keeps the costs to a minimum. My mooring is about to become free for a year and has the benifit of a pontoon to berth on. Located just off Mercury Yacht Harbour it is available from April 1st for a least a year. If interested drop me an e-mail and I will tell you which one to ask the Harbour master about. It is suitable for boats upto about 30 ft (maybe a little more) and moderate displacement. There is plenty of draft for that size boat. I use the marina to store and launch the dinghy although this costs more than the mooring itself (~£650).

I have a 31 foot long by 5'6" draught steel sloop that is presently in Plymouth and we are looking for a new birth for the 2002 season. We have 2 young sons. Could you please provide more details. Thank you.
