After many years there may just be a possibility that my long awaited mooring on the Hamble may come up.

Does anyone have information on places that I can park and store my dinghy? I'm not interested in keeping it at one of the marinas due to the cost, but don't expect these things to be free!

Thanks and regards, Nick

Warsash sailing club was where I kept my dinghy when I had trots on the Hamble - very nice people. Alternatively The royal air-force sailing club /association on the other side. Not sure about the parking around those areas but there was that slightly beaten up boat yard on above Mercury Marina and below Moodys - drive down a stony old lane past lots of fields to get there... cannot remember the name.... Began with an S I think

When I first had trots they cost £150 a year and to keep my inflatable in the toast wrack at Mercury just opposite them cost £250 a year - must say something about something... Congrats on getting a council place for your boat - there really should be more available to stop sailing becoming totally elitist.

Only a rumour so far...I appears that 36ft band moorings are the the most in demand. Had I owned a 25fter or a 50fter I would have been accomodated some while back.

Thing is that as these moorings are no longer 'cheap', I dont want to give up my mooring at Fareham only to find I either have to pay (I think £650) to keep a dinghy at one of the marinas, or as you say end up with a nightmare getting to and back from a days sail.

Friends of ours moved their boat to the yard where you currently keep Fairweather, from the Hamble. They had the use of a sub-let mooring, but by the time they had paid for annual membership at the RAF Yacht Club so as to be able to park and keep a dinghy (although a water taxi was included in the deal), the cost for their 33 footer was more expensive on the Hamble, in addition to being further from home by road. If you find somewhere cheaper, then the best of luck - but I would suggest that you don't relinquish your current mooring until you're sure of your new arrangement. There may of course be other factors and the Hamble may be a lot more convenient for you.

When I had a river mooring just beside Mercury (a private one, unfortunately, not a council one), I kept the dinghy in the toast racks administered by Tucker and Munday just beside Mercury. The annual fee, which I can't recall, included use of a launching trolley. Their telephone number, eight or ten years ago, was: 02380 453124.

It may be that the racks are reserved for yachts on Tucker and Munday's own moorings, but there seems to be plenty of space round there.

Yes that is my concern..especially as I quite like my Farham mooring ( with the exception of the Cormorants).

I think when I joined the list it was a lot cheaper and as such quite desirable, now however I'm not so sure.

I certainly like the idea of sailing from the Hamble but really dont want a load of stress getting from car to boat etc.

Nice place & priced for the yachtsman -NOT

Crableck & Universal are all one now, a dinghy berth will cost you circa £500pa. They say the mooring is free but the charge is for car parking. Try another river ~ this one is a rip off.

Re: Nice place & priced for the yachtsman -NOT

They quoted me £600 last year, I keep my dinghy in Swanwick marina which is about £500 per annum, although they will do it quarterly. You can risk leaving it ashore at the slipway behind the Old Ship on swanwick shore, as many do, but car parking is a problem in the summer.
If you are Hamble/Warsash end of the river then Warsash sailing club is about £100 for individual membership plus about £50 for dinghy space. You can leave a dinghy on the harbour masters jetty for no charge but space is limited.
