Hamble Point Flare amnesty - were they firing the Flares ?

Immense amount of smoke and what for a while looked like flames by one of the pontoons this afternoon around 4PM. I know there was the flare amnesty today, but for a while there was zero visilibiltiy right across the rver by Hamble Point.

We were stood Hamble quay when we saw this going on, then two tone sirens so possibly some poor sod's boat alight.

Bomb squad let them all off in a controlled fire !!!!!!! All very dramatic and would have thought that the fire brigade would have been warned but guess they weren't as two fire engines turned up with blue lights and sirens, neil
