Hamble area half boaty advice please

May day weekend we are heading to riverside camp site next to mercury marina with the camper, any ideas on things to do within cycling/walking distance of the marina, 2 teen girls and 2 dogs, also towing the rib and mooring in the marina for the duration but have'nt explored down there since we moored at deacons when i was a lad 30 odd years ago, things have changed a bit since then!! All advice greatly appreciated... need a change from the murky waters of the severn!! tia

I would recommend Royal Victoria Countrty Park as a bike ride / decent Walk away.

As you will have your Rib then take the tide up to the Horse and Jockey pub or Botley village at the very top of the river. Once you get above the M27 you enter another world.

Shopping Southampton West Quay or Whiteley Jn 9 M27.

Cinemas at Southampton

Loads of decent walks close by, plenty of pubs and restaurants, All the pubs in Hamble allow dogs inside.

Walk down to the village and get the pink ferry to Warsash, walk along the path upriver to Swanwick, up through Bursledon, back through the woods to Mercury, nice loop, lots of pubs, tea shops etc along the way.

Already ruled that one out unfortunately, going to struggle with parking! But on a plus side the wallet will stay healthy

To avoid the parking hassle, why not park in Gosport and take the ferry across to Gunwharf Quays?

There's no parking hassle to Gun Wharf, the park and ride on the M275 is brilliant and very cheap.
