We bought an Halmatic 30 recently and I need to change the main halyard. Looking back over all our documentation I can't find the main mast height anywhere and a google search leaves me none the wiser. Can anyone give me any clues? Thanks

If there is a halyard already there, attach a mousing line (sew it on the end of the halyard), remove the old halyard, measure it and use the mousing line to re-reeve the new one. At a guess the mast will be about 11m, so 25m will be more than enough - unless you want to take it back to the cockpit which will add a minimum of 5m.

Thanks all, that as good advice and much appreciated. We have since sent a very long tape measure up the mast and found it was 9 m 80 approx, but that didn't allow for the fact the tape measure didn't quite get there, so I think the 10.48 m (thank you Blue Drifter) is probably exactly what it is. The mousing line principle (thank you Tranona) will be used when we come round to changing it. In the meantime, the engine has an undefined air leak and we are not going anywhere until that is fixed!!
