Hello from Yachting Monthly past!

Those with good memories might remember when Youtube was something quirky, and Chris Beeson and I started doing video walk-around tours of yachts for Yachting Monthly. After amassing millions of views for YM, last year Chris and I got back together to create video boat reviews and tests. We started Yachting Reviews on Youtube: Yachting Reviews

We're not hapless influenzas and we're not relying on scantily clad other halves to attract viewers – some may consider our approach akin to YouTube suicide and say there's no place for fully independent reviews by experienced boat testers, presenting information without endless hyperbole. We say that's nonsense and our viewers agree :)

We're out and about testing and reviewing yachts, old and new, and last month we spent 6 days with Hallberg-Rassy where we tested the New Hallberg-Rassy 370.

I subscribed when the first review appeared on my for you page. I think it was the rustler preview. So nice to have a familiar face back. My favourite types of review. It's really nice to hear honest reviews including the little niggles rather than just glowing praise all the time. Hope the channel grows to sustainable levels. If you ever want to review a Twister mine is in sunny Valencia ;-)

I watched all the way through the HR 370 review, in preparation for the day when the Powerball drops into the right slot. The presenters have devised an excellent format, exactly what a real new-boat buyer would be looking for, no frills, just technicalities and not feeling that you have to explain to people how to use a tap, or a shower, or a toilet, or what the nav station is actually for. I liked the review, and (as above), once started, watched it all the way through and I was captivated by the factual presentation. Personally, I was fascinated by the solar cell material laid all over the foredeck of the HR-370 and would have appreciated a bit more input on how this works in practice, what you'd have to do to look after it and what numbers it can achieve in terms of equipment usage onboard. But what a gorgeous boat! A good start and I look forward to more of the same, especially reviews of the Alubat medium-sized range, which will also be on the list of possibles when the lottery numbers come up!
