Halfwinder sail

I recently bought a boat from Holland and as part of its sail wardrobe it has a sail called a halfwinder, anyone able to help with exactly what this is and how and when it should be used.

Believe it to be the Dutch term for "cruising chute"

A halfwinder is a (usually) hanked-on foresail for use from a reach to an broad reach. Sheeted like a normal genoa.
