Decided against buying the Snapdragon I looked at last week and now have my eye on a ketch rigged, bilge keel, Halcyon Clipper.

Does anybody on this forum have any experience of this type of boat ?

It's in very good condition and I know it has been out of the water for the past 2 years due to the owner being in poor health.

The engine is a 10hp Bukh diesel

If anybody can suggest alternatives of a similar type to the boats I am looking at the advice would be greatly appreciated.

Guide price is approximately £10,000

Many thanks in advance for the replies I am going to receive.

I have a Halcyon Clipper. Although mine has a long fin keel. She is a very seaworthy little yacht. I bought her to introduce my wife to sailing, and she's taken to it and is now a very keen sailor.

We bought her for just under £9K with every thing you needed for a first boat, and had a very good survey. I thought they had a larger engine than 10HP, I believe the Halcyon 27 has the smaller engine and the clipper has an 18HP.

Glad I didn't buy a Centaur!

Looked at the boat this morning and have made an offer of 10k subject to survey.

It needs a few small jobs done on it but they are just cosmetic.

When I saw the engine I thought it looked far too big to put out only 10 hp so it could well be an 18hp.

I'm already looking forward to having my first sail in her.
