Haines 32' AC

Re: Haines 32\' AC

They are extremely popular over here on the Shannon and Erne system, which include the inland seas that are the mighty Loughs Derg, Ree and Erne Lower. The 320AC has more internal living space than many 45ft flybridge designs which devote so much aft space to outside living. Imho, they are a fab product for UK inland and sheltered coastal cruising waters. Build quality is top notch and they tend to have a very "home away from home" cosy feel to their interior. The master cabin aft is very spacious compared to some cramped master cabins in the bows of larger flybridge boats. Best night sleep you'll ever get is either aft or midships.

Re: Haines 32\' AC

Nice boats and as you suggest, very good for lake/ esturial cruising.
The Haines boats tend to use mould tools from other manufacturers who have superceded that model.
The 32 Haines is the old Broom 9/70.
Second hand values are difficult because so many of the Broom equivalents are still around and very useable and better built. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the quality of Haines but is not quite as good as Broom.
For this reason the Haines price, for a boat possibly 10 years newer, is not so different to its equivalent Broom.
Personally I think the best engine configuration is a single Perkins Sabre (135 hp) + bowthruster.

Re: Haines 32\' AC

lovely boat,my friend recently bought an ex hire one 03 with 1700 hrs on it about 100k stg, i have a perky 135 in a broom 38 and over a year or about 125 hours i would use about 320/350 litres at various revs and speeds usual cruising is abot 1750 rpm giving about 6/7 kn

Re: Haines 32\' AC

Don't know for sure but GPH should be minimal at river speeds of 4 or 5 kts and max' speed with a single 135 hp I would have thought would be around 10 kts as over that you are pushing too much water. Sensible cruising should be good for 7 or 8 kts. Email Haines.
