Been thinking about next winter with this one coming to an end. I still have a Propex Compact that I've hung back on fitting due to having too little space in cockpit lockers to fit a gas cabinet and therefore, I gone with safety over convenience and resisted fitting it.. I do have all the kit for monitoring though, bubble tester, SAS gas alarms and the like ready to go.

So, how do I move forward.. looking at caravans got me thinking about setting up a gas locker on the swim platform that I'd put the gas bottle linking in to the propex through a skin fitting hidden behind the transom shower.

Obviously no good whilst undeway but should be ok whilst at the home berth? or can anyone think of an issue that would prevent us going this route?

many thanks Gary

Gary, if you look at some of the older river boats, they fit the gas locker externally off the transom to meet the BSC requirements. Only downside of your suggestion is tripping over it on a dark night, on the way to the facilities, if you don't want to wake the crew!

On Rafiki, we have room in the anchor locker. I'm still undecided whether to fit a heater or not, and had hoped that you had fitted your propane one by now, for some feedback.

thanks for the advice... sounds like it's worthwhile looking in to it a little further if I can't squeeze a gas locker in somewhere within the cockpit.. sorry for the delay Rf.. been a v busy year full of change. don't let me hold you back though mate;)

My seaweed is starting to curl in the middle, indicating a really long hot summer, starting with the Easter weekend. With the list of other mods/upgrades not getting any shorter, I will run out of time for the things like the heating I think.
