Here something I've been meaning to ask for a while - just for curiosities sake.

Aeolus had seven of these mounted on a bulk head:
HaaksWaddenWeek1983.jpg

Dating from 1972 to this one from 1983.

Now, a search on the 'net leads me to this site: http://www.ijhw.nl/. However, since I can't read Dutch I'm not significantly wiser, other than being able to say that this is obviously an annual even somewhere in the IJsselmeer.

So, some simple questions:

Where is it held?
Whos penants are on the plaque (especially the last)?

And finally the impossible one, any way of finding out how the old girl did in her youth?

Regards, Jeff.

Being Dutch, reading is not the problem for me!

It is held both on the Ijsselmeer starting from Medemblik and on the Waddenzee starting from Den Helder. The Waddenzee ist the sea between the mainland and the isles in the noth of the Netherlands.

In the past they were two different races: the Haaksrace from Den Helder (started before WW2) and the Ijsselmeerweek.

In the time of the plaque it was a five day event.

I could not find how the old girl did?

Hope this helps a little!
