Spent most of the early summer doing up my yacht, leave it on the mooring for 2 weeks and some body has sailed in to it leaving a hole in it! Luckily they where honest and got in contact, just annoying as the top sides where in reasonable nick for her age and I was going to put her on Ebay this weekend, now I will have to find a GRP man in Chichester Harbour and go through all the insurance hassle :(

Any body know of a decent GRP person in Chichester Harbour?

:(

Stephen

About 3 or 4 years ago we had stern damage done by some unspeakable person who didn't own up. We had it repaired by Peters Shipyard. The guy there who did it has made an excellent job, both surface finish and colour match. I think his name was Kevin. Not sure if he's still there.
Hope this helps.

I think the name of the guy often used with a good reputation in Chichester is Colin Rogers. He is based in Dell Quay I believe.

Thanks to both posters, I will try them. I think i could get it to a good structral level but my eyes are no good when it comes to matching older gel coats like mine. I tried Hayling Island Fibre Glass and they told me that they have a 3 month wait, I hope this is not the case with the others or I am stuffed!

Thanks again.

Hi Stephen

Sorry to hear of your incident and hoping that you can resolve it quickly. Did you go for the E-Boat in the end?

Regards

No this is my spring project, I have done a few of these over the last few years. I am seriously looking at the eboat all though my racing season looks confirmed as I am hoping to do the RORC races and Hamble winter and spring races on a Beneteau 40.7 with possible plans for the Fastnet. So I might get the eboat any way once I have rid of this broken boat of mine. I am just so annoyed as I was due to pull it out of the water tommorow to sell on ebay.

We will see what happens I guess :-(

I have just realised that I am doing somebody elses work by going round to all these yards with my boat, surely someone from the insurance company should spend the three days it will take me to navigate around Chichester Harbour getting various quotes?

What do people reckon?

Stephen, it must be annoying but at least the culprit owned up. One of the reasons I moved from the reach into Chi marina was the need to renew several stauchion posts each season from sideswipers who never left contact names.

Just re the EBoats.. I had one of these for a year or so and loved it.. Mine was "Enfilade" and I used her over the 2001 summer. Not too sure that I would want a timber one, but the GRP one I had was great.. and would sail on a wet lawn with the plate up.

There is a couple of pics on the gallery pages on this.
