I need a new manual bilge pump in Windway. The pump is mounted under the floor in the bilge sump just forward of the engine and fixed to a half bulkhead and the handle when fitted is in a slot in the floor. I would like a pump that moves a good amount of water at each stroke and favour these two Gusher models, the 10 and the Titan. The titan is half the price of the 10, presumably as it is plastic v the alloy construction of the 10, but moves a lot more water.
I don't have experience of either and would welcome comments from those of you who know these pumps and how reliable they are. I will probably fit a second one in the cockpit, so I can pump whilst at the helm if needed.
I wrote an email to Whale in N.I. but did not receive an answer!
Look forward to your comments.

I have a Gusher Titan in KS, which I'm happy with - although I've never needed to use it in anger!

I don't think I'd want anything smaller as a main bilge pump. On a more serious boat, I'd consider going bigger.

I did manage to break the clamping ring on the Titan. It was while refitting the boat, but I can't remember what I was doing. I wouldn't call it fragile, but neither is it completely indestructible. My local chandler was able to order the part from Whale. I like the look of their all-metal pumps but might not be able to justify the price! (Haven't investigated what they actually charge but I bet they're not cheap :) ).

The Titan seems to be one of the more common pumps in use, which has a bearing on the availability of spares.
