Gulfstar 50

I am currently considering buying a gulfstar 50, they seem very popular in the US but are they any good as long distance cruisers?

Comments the good the bad and the ugly are all welcome

I met some folk in the Windies some years back who had a Gulfstar 50 ketch - they had been around the world on theirs quite happily.

They used to be very popular in the Caribbean as crewed charter boats in the 70's, before the Beneteaus et al took over.
