My spotlight is playing-up!

The light works OK, rotates sideways, but not up/down.

I have checked switch internals and contacts all OK. Also the connections at the helm. I have the original installation manual.

I have not traced wiring through to the spotlight yet. I am expecting it to be a connection or motor fault in the light itself. However, does anyone know the electrical schematic for these lights? Which cables energise the up/down movement. I can then check the voltages at the radar arch.

I expect I can work it out next time on the boat by removing the entire spotlight and checking the internal wiring, but thought I would ask just in case someone knows the wiring schematic!

Do you koow JohnvI cant remamber any of my boats where the spotlight moved in all the directions it was designed to do, seems they are all like that? Or was it just mine? (and now yours)

Hi John

You have proberbly checked this, on my 37 the spotlight wires are connected through a 4 pin connector through the radar arch, if it has one of these do check and clean all the connectors, I have had lots of problems with mine

Hope this helps

regards
ians

Yes, I have seen the connectors in the radar arch, I would like to ascertain which wires energise the up/down motor (-/+ve) so I can check power is getting to where it should. Otherwise I intend to do just as you say, before stripping the unit down - thanks for the advice!
