Morning, all
Hope you're all enjoying this lovely, sunny Friday morning! (Especially after last night's horrid weather!)

We have a guest coming to visit us towards the end of June. She's arriving on a Saturday at around 3pm, and leaving the following Saturday at around 9am. She'll be flying into and out of Preveza airport.

We'll be floating around the southern Ionian at the time.

Could anyone recommend the best way for us to collect our guest? What would be her best way to get to us? Where would be the best place for us to be for her to get to us?

Also, seeing as she's flying out so early, what's her best bet? Leave the previous evening and stay in a hotel near the airport? Catch a very early taxi?

Any thoughts gratefully appreciated!

How close to Preveza are you? When we did the same we went alongside a pontoon between Ionion Marine and Cleopatra, cycled to the airport to meet our guests, they took a taxi back, 15 euros, while we cycled. Things are a little different now and you might have to check into Cleopatra Marina.

Otherwise there are taxis back and forward from Nidri and levkas at all hours of the day and night.

A cab to/from Sivota or Nidri was what we'd been contemplating. I'll add Lefkas to the list. Are any preferred? Seeing as it's a Saturday, I guess the Sailing Holidays fleet will be pitching up at Sivota in the afternoon for changeover on Sunday. I understand Nidri is the Nielsen base? When is their changeover?

Is there any particular cab company that's recommended?

Nielsen have their own pontoon at Nidri, available to visitors outside Saturday and Sunday. Usually space on the town quays at either Nidri or Levkas, general advice don't wait until 1700 before trying to get in!

I would get them to take a taxi to Cleopatra Marina, you can anchor outside and when they arrive at Cleopatra ask them to come to the fuel pontoon and you can pick them up and go. You will be there only a couple of minutes and I doubt Cleopatra will know or even care.

Suggest you try Preveza marina, Michael the marina guy is very helpful, and they will sort you a taxi to the airport 20 euros via the tunnel. Preveza is a nice town to start from with guests, they can enjoy first night there, and there are some wonderful alleyways and taverna to explore.
From there you have an easy trip down to Lefkas or go inland into the Gulf of Ambracia to Vonitsa.Enjoy.

Might depend on where you want to go during the week. If you are already in the south and the plan is for the southern islands then it makes sense for them to meet you in Levkas, otherwise you have two transits through the canal. If you are in the north, or intend going north then makes sense to meet in Preveza. Taxis no problem from the airport for either.

Cleopatra marina, anchor off or tie up to the Aktio dock. Get her to take a taxi or - if you're feeling very welcoming walk and get her.

Thanks for all the tips.

Numero uno option at the moment is to moor or anchor around Nidri or so and hire a car for the day. From the looks of things, it should end up cheaper than a cab and we can get in some Lidl shopping en route.
