On the subject of EA letters of complaint:-

The chairman of the Association of Thames Yacht Clubs commented at the recent ATYC Rally that both he and the Environment Agency were disappointed at the low number of letters that had been written in opposition to the proposed 14% per annum increase in registration fees for the next three years.

Answers on a postcard, please, to ......

You were the chairman of the ATYC in 2006, think I had only just heard of them then despite having been on the river for the previous 30 years.

nobody said the chairman posted it, post only reporting on what the chairman said....?

(b.t.w - MikeT - Chairman may have already been Chris (much missed) by then but i cannot remember...)

I think Chris did three years ending last March, before him was Colin Rennie who did three years I believe, so in 2006 I would assume the chairman was Colin.

Not sure I fully understand the original post however!

Confused now, I thought B1 wanted to know who made the quote, it seems odd that the EA were complaining about not receiving enough complaints.

Didn't Colin Rennie die in 2006?

Yes he did, just before the Henley Rally, where presumably the quote was made, in which case it would have been Chris Turner who was chairman, but not necessarily who made the statement - confused? Who isn't. Perhaps B1 will explain the purpose of his post now we're all confused!

No, I didn't want to know as I already knew who said it.

My OP asked if anyone could guess ! (Just for the record, Apollo didn't remember, I had to remind him ).

Why did I ask - ah, thats a different question :D

While I have your attention, does anyone know where I might find a copy of the ATYC constitution?

Lets take this one step at a time.......

The quote I referred to in my OP was from a post by Apollo who himself was quoting what had been said by the ATYC chairman at the rally.

So the answer to my question was ... Apollo.

Why did I ask ? Well, my humour buds were a little tickled to see, way back then in 2006, Apollo clearly being a part of the ATYC and club scene compared with his more contemporary and mature views today :D

Please note I have studiously avoided mentioning fenders ......
