Guess whats new

Mike, there's something odd going on! I too fitted exactly the same 2 lights last week and have 2 tins of TK Line waiting to be applied before re-launch! Which will be after Eos is coppercoated in the next week or so. Are we related?:)

Oh dear..looks like I'm going to be 'black-balled' out of the Lumi club! :ambivalence: But I suppose if I was offered a huge discount, I could be persuaded to conform to club rules...

Alas no. I put TK on when the boat was brand new, May 2013. I then did a quick lift September 2013 just before Cannes boat show and TK's performance was AMAZING, the holy grail imho, and I posted pictures at the time. The props were acid washed anyway by the yard (I forgot to tell them not to) so the TK was lost at that point, and when I hauled out last week the props were all barnacled again having had September 13-April 14 with no TK on them. I just put a full can of TK on each prop last week ready for this season, so I'm hoping for more good results this season. I'm perfectly synched with Hurricane and will get pictures later this year

Hi John - Trust you and family are well - I am having Lions Den lifted etc next month and I am interested in using TK - is it just the props you put this on or rudders as well - please advise.
I also tried to find your photos on previous posts but no luck as yet - kr Terry

Hi Terry. All well here thanks and hope same with you guys. I'll repost those pics maybe tonight or this weekend, and I have a load of pics/vid (a bit geeky of course) of my lift-out last weekend that i'll put on youtube/p'bucket soon. Stay tuned for another "lift out" post :D
The TK is very impressive stuff in my book, as pictures will show, and at £20 per can it is possibly the best value thing in the entire chandlery store! I put it on props, shafts, uW lights, trim tab cylinders, hilo mechanism. Could put on rudders but never thought of that

Whoops
I did put the TK on the rudders but completely forgot about the lights!!!

slightly OT,

I'm persuaded I have to use it as well, BUT being in a can, I doubt anyone will ship to Greece. How do you guys in SOF and Spain got hold of it? Guess bought it in the UK and carried it over in your luggage.
Any other option? Cannot seem to find the main co website to check for local dealers (if any)

Interesting to read reports that greatly exceed the expectations of the company producing it.
They clearly state 3m in the water and ppl seem to get decent results up to a year! Anyone care to explain?

cheers

V.

I bought some in a chandlery in Antibes, so it is available outside the UK.

I've said previously that I didn't get such good results with it, but my application was a bit haphazzard. The chandlery only had one can of Trilux, one of Blakes, and one TK line, so I bought the 3 different products and sprayed them on a bit randomly. After a year the Trilux seemed to work best, then the TK line, and the Blakes was noticeably worse, but all of them had worn or flaked off to some extent. This is the big problem with stern gear, there's no shortage of products that would stop the fouling, the challenge is getting them to stay on the props. To that extent JFM's good results over 3 months might be a "best case", as the TK Line was ( I think?) applied to brand new props, so adhesion may have been better than could be achieved on previously fouled props that have been cleaned.

The Velox Plus uses an etch primer, which I guess is supposed to cut through oxidation on the surafce of the prop to create a better bond, and I therefore think it may work better over the course of a year, but time will tell. I'm certainly pleased with the results over the last year, and i'll use it again this year while we wait to see how JFM and Hurricane get on with the TK Line.

The search for the holy grail continues .... :D

I remember that my first year it was difficult to clean the props.
There seemed to be a kind of lacquer on the props and P brackets
If so, this might have an impact on JFM's initial results

Still - as you say - we search for that "holy grail"
