This was a big favourite of ours but price rises of up to 30% /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif from last August 2003 (these 2003 prices are still showing on their website too) make it very expensive. The food last week was 'OK', but no where near justifying the increased price tags IMO. Main course grilled Bass at £16 (it was £12.95) seems not too bad until you add on the side orders required for vegetables, £1.90 for potatoes and £2.50 for each and every other! Even sharing the veg between 2 people this made the main course £19.45 (compare to paying £22.85 inc VAT if on the mainland).

There are plenty of other choices, Da Nello's, Absolute End are just 2 of many.

Yep, plus The Absolute End as well. I bet Nello gave you a rose too?

It is a great pity about Saltwater because they were very good, they are still showing prices on the website from last year (30% cheaper than now), plus I sent them a very polite e-mail 4 weeks ago after our visit that they didn't bother to answer. Brits as they will no doubt discover vote with their feet whilst passing the good word by mouth, their loss will be others gain!

I'm not sure if they didn't reply to mine because they chose to write us off as customers or because like so many they set up website then never look at it again!

Perhaps they don't mind about the odd yachtie complaining about the prices as the locals are loaded! I'll give place a try next time I am over there and report back on my findings.

We used them many times in previous visits and had recommended them to many friends. I can understand that prices change but overnight by 30% (even the wine) is something else! Also, we were there on a Thursday evening and maybe it was Chefs night off, but the menu was more limited than usual (the usual menu is on the website, still showing the old prices) and our starter of Lobster Benedict was served cold, even the poached egg. I had this once before and do not remember it being cold, I wasn't sure enough to challenge it and it still tasted OK. That was the rub though, the food was 'OK' whereas before it was excellent (and 30% cheaper!).
