...Because a nice columnist called Richard Williams has written the appropriate Homage to Ellen, to compensate for (his words) 'the ineffable obtuseness - no, let's use the right word: stupidity - of some of the opinions expressed in this newspaper over the past few days'.

I'm much relieved, as if I'd been forced to carry out my threat of boycotting The Grauniad, my chances of finding my dream non-job as Local Education Sustainability Facilitator, Quality Assurance Manager for Enhanced Community Punishment, or similar would have been much diminished, my ambitions of spending my working life idling away dashed (apart from time spent posting to this forum of course).

Yum, yum, humble pie

And underneath Richard Williams' article, another from Bob Fisher, headlined "An epic voyage, equal to the greatest". Think he's shifting his ground slightly, though arguably it's still faint praise.

In fact, there's a whole page of Ellenmania in the Sports pages, plus an Editorial, half of the third News Page and "Arise, Dame Ellen" on the Front Page. I think, perhaps, they feel they might have misjudged the tone of their coverage yesterday - though if all the papers took the same line it would be a boring old world, wouldn't it?

I've written to Alan Rusbridger to rescind the cancellation of my subscription.

Love to know why any opinon which differs from yours should invoke the "stupid" comment. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

there again : apology due

then again, reading the post is sometimes a good gambit before ripping in with a personal attack - especially given the subject matter of thoughtless writing, hm?

Thus surely, as with the grauniad, a fulsome apology -devoid of sarcasm - is in order.

Sorry.Salty got it all wrong again.

"Stupid"of me of course /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifbut reading the post gave the obviously totally erroneous impression that that Salty agreed with the newspaper article describing critics of the marine equivalent of the second coming as err stupid. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
