Am under pressure from SWMBO and the kids to put my Trader 50 somewhere where it is sunny! Broad concensus is :

1 Cheap flights to airport
2 Airport close -ish to marina
3 Lots of sun
4.Proper marina close to a large town with decent shops ( as in shopping ) and restaurants
5.Marina berthing that isnt insanely priced and preferably rent not buy

From as far North as La Rochelle to the Med.

Have only berthed in UK waters but boat is well specced for the Med as she used to live there - Majorca I believe.

Any bright ideas out there??

We are in Gouvia, Corfu which ticks all your boxes. heavily outnumbered by yachties and need support!
1. yes, easy jet flights every day from Gatwick 3 times a week from Manchester
2. yes very close - 15 min taxi ride
3. lots of summer sun - average 35deg afternoons. Winters very wet however
4. yes big all facility marina, loads of tavernas/ shops/bars in easy reach, although not sophisticated shopping if thats your bag
5. martiona fees around half of S. coast. e.g we pay about 4,000 euros a year for 38 footer.

what are you waiting for?

Have a look at Sant Carles - MDL's Spanish marina near Barcelona/Valencia
Lots of first time Med boaters down here
Really cheap at the moment as well.
Cracking local lagoon for short trips out and only 100 miles to the Balearics - arguably some of the best cruising in the Med.
Quiet sleepy Spanish resort - no nightclubs - but good spread of restaurants.
Top quality boatyard - cheap lifts and storage ashore if you like.
We normally fly Bristol to Reus (Ryanair) - last trip was end of July for a week - £109 return for two of us.
Reus is 45 mins from the marina
Ryanair fly Luton to Reus.
Alternatively Barcelona airport is about an hour and a half away.

PM me if you are interested.

What about Gibraltar or the new La Linea Marina? Flights from Mcr 4 times per week, Luton 7 times per week, Heathrow 7 times per week and Gatwick 7 times per week.

You can walk to the Marinas, cheap fuel and booze and mooring less than uk?

Works for me

Paul
