Does anyone know much/have an opinion about marine ply sheathed in GRP. Are you likely to get a solid, seaworthy boat made of this?

GRP over native wood seems to have been a common approach in my home country of NZ (I live in the UK at the moment).

Many thanks

If it was done from new there is a chance that it is ok but beware. Polyester is not a glue and doesn't bond well with ply, look at all the boats with ply bulkheads, they have a habit of becoming onstuck.
Tap all over for any voids as there is where the rot will start. and make sure that the bilges are fairly dry, as putting a waterproof membrane , of course turns it into a container.
So it can be ok, or a dog, do a lot of checking.
However the use of epoxy is ok .

There was a post dealing with this last year and a lot of useful advice was given. I rarely have any luck finding old posts but someone who is more expert may be able to find it for you!
