According to the website, the Hunter 245 is still available in kit form. It doesn't mention it for the larger boats, though. You could always try phoning them.
Ah, right - they need to update their website, then. That also explains why they say that the Pilot 27 is made in Essex, whereas all of the others are made in Cornwall.
All Hunters are now made in Cornwall rather than Essex. I guess they just haven't taken the sign down. If Hunters no longer make the 27 (which I am surprised about) why don't you ask to lease / buy the moulds and get someone else to make one. Call Andy at the Hamble office - They may even know of someone who could make one. Andy put me in contact with a good laminator who did my P bracket
You could probably get hold of the kit manual and some of the old supplier contacts via the Hunter Association website.
The rule on RCD (CE marking) and home-built boats is that you can claim exemption but if the boat changes ownership within 5 years of completion it must then comply.
If the boat is jointly owned by a couple it is essential that they each jointly own all the shares in the boat. If they own half the shares each, on the death of one, his/her shares are inherited and that is considered a change of ownership.
It is important to keep proof of home building and documentation of the completion date. My boat has just clocked up the 5 years and I keep the original launch invoice with the ship's papers.
If building a kit from a manufacturer they should be able to help you get a CE mark which saves a lot of bother.
