One of my winter projects is to make a splash-proof cockpit monitor.
I already have my daylight-view able LCD panel and driver board but my attempts to make a decent mold for the GRP enclosure have been pretty unsuccessful.
This is obviously a long-shot but has anyone been down this route and succeeded in making a decent enclosure for a 15" monitor.
I'm looking to buy/borrow/copy the mold

(Before anyone says it I know 15" is really too big for the cockpit but I couldn't find a smaller high nit LCD panel at a reasonable price.)
Thanks

PS Just realised I cant spell "mold" correctly. Must be because Im a property landlord :)

shame it has to be 15 as I used the dash board cover from an ldv van which has a reasonable shape and made from plastic

No, you've spelled it correctly. Mold is American.

I did make a pair of cockpit pods for my plotter and AIS display, but I'm not sure they'd be suitable as the shape is quite specific to my deck and windscreen. Also may not be quite big enough for 15".

However, if you're getting hands on enough to make the pod, the extra steps to make the mould are not really any harder. I shaped a plug out of clay, painted it with plastic floor-sealer, and laid up a mould on top. All the materials and instructions are at http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/
