I have tried 'T' cut and Meguair's Compound to remove some small upper hull scratches which have removed some but not all.

I have been recommended to try Farecla G7 compound but can only find large tins of it and I only have about 3 or 4 small scratches to do,
so what have other used with success?

I do have a variable speed Meguair's polisher for application of the compound.

600> 1200 wet & dry then compound again

+1

But if your new to this, perhaps start with 1500 and only move down to 1200 followed by 1500 if needed rather than start from 600, it will be easier to recover from and has less risk of compromising gel depth.

If you can easily catch your nail in the scratches, I would opt to fill rather than sand down.

Just in case some don't understand wet and dry paper grading, the number is the grit particles per square inch, the lower the number the more aggressive the paper.

On the subject of product choice, i'm afraid it gets a little complicated, I will try not to over explain and appear as anal as I actually am! :)

The cutting ability of a product is not just down to the product itself, but also the pad used to work it with, the machine (dual action or rotary) and also how hard the gel coat is.

The same product can be used with a foam pad or a wool pad and have different cutting speeds, in fact even just using different foam pads harder / softer or different wool pads will show varying results.

The same can be said of a dual action compared to a rotary machine and once again the product - pad choice can have different effects with soft gel and hard gel.

If you PM me your address, I can send you out some 1000 > 1500 paper and some small sample pots of different graded compounds & polishes from very coarse to very fine to save buying large amounts?
