Good to see all ended well.

To quote the website
Skipper of the yacht, Bangor native Nigel Kearney and his two friends were asleep on the yacht before discovering that they had run aground. The trio managed to avoid any injuries and got off the vessel safely, this followed the mooring giving way at around 9am on Wednesday morning which he described as a “rude awakening”.
I wonder if this will turn into a mooring v anchoring thread? ;)

I think you can see what went wrong in the photos. There's a line attched to both bow cleats, so I suspect the boat was moored on a bridle to the mooring, and the line chafed through. Looks like a pretty lively onshore wind and waves, anyway everyone is safe, the damage looks pretty minor and being dealt with promptly by an insurer at a guess, seeing it leave on that transporter. A bit of a slow news day in Co Claire?

PS : Although there's also a great big mooring buoy in the cockpit, so probably something else broke.
