I've recently bought a 1980 Westerly Griffon Mk I. I wish to fit midship cleats p & S and further bow cleats (there's only one on the bow).

Does anyone know whether these boats were built with the necessary re-inforcement in place - ready for the "optional extras"

I too have a Griffon MK1 (1981).

Being very unwilling to drill more holes in the boat that is absolutely necessary I found some cleats in my local chandlery. They slide onto the end of the genoa car track. I think they worked out about £20 each.

They are one of the most useful additions to the boat that I have added!

I have done lots of other bits and pieces to the boat in the last 4½ years so please get in touch if you are interested.......

had a look at the tracks on mine. They seem to stop further aft than I would have thought ideal?

Are they strong enough?

Sorry about the delay - I've been sailing

Sorry that I did not come back earler...

Yes the track is a little far aft, but it works ok. I have not had any problems with overloadling - I am assuming that the genoa sheet loads are quite high anyway.

e-mail me on Andrew@trayfoot.co.uk if you would like to chat further...
