On the Cranchi, I have these small, plastic, grey clips that hold the cabin doors open.

There is a male and female end, and you give the door a bit of a push to insert the ball into the female end (ooh er), then a bit of a tug to pull it back out (this is getting dirty)

Yeah so basically, I broke 2 of the male ends (a tiny shaft with a small ball at the end)

Any idea what the heck i'm on about? And if so, what they're called? Or where to source?

There are loads of these so I can't match yours without a picture. However, here is a range of items that are at least similar. I can recommend the 4th item, £21.83 - I have these on my last few boats and they work well

The fiamma one in your link is too ugly for the interior of a boat. you see that one on the outside of motorhomes and caravans

Thanks, J.

In fairness, the ones I had certainly weren't ugly because they were tiny.

I just remembered that there is 1 good one still left on the boat (bow cabin) - i'll take pics of it this weekend and measure it. Then i'll be back to hound you :D

LOL, I'm afraid you're overestimating my knowledge of boat components, P.! :D
Otoh, I've been in the very same yard (which is round the corner from my lake home, btw) which built alt's boat, at the time when I bought a Z34, and I must still have a phone number of one of their engineers.
So, no problem to give them a call if you wish, alt.
But a pic could be useful anyway, just in case they would have more than one supplier and/or they changed that part during the years...

Sorry for delay in responding, I have finally taken pics of the male clips that I need...

Here is the female section that it pushes into:

So does anyone have an idea of what I need to be searching for? I need to get 2 x male clips. Before, a forum member was kind enough to send me a spare one he had, but it was too long... it needs to be stubby just like the one in the pic

I also have a Cranchi, (Pelican 32) and I have a similar clip on my transom door which broke as you described. I did manage to find a replacement in my local marine store (Empuriabrava, Spain). It only cost a few euros. I am due to fly out early June and quite happy to see if they have any left and forward them to you.

I wonder how common these are (or were)... I have five identical door retainer catches on my Storebro which is 25 years old. They've not broken, but the rubber inserts have gone hard over time and the ball part won't go in. I've not found anything on the internet, except much larger, so if anyone does come up with a supplier or manufacturer, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks A_8, I did consider the first ones you linked to, they look good but in my case the socket part would catch on clothing, so I passed on them. The second ones are very much too big, but the right idea. There are some cheap caravan-type nylon ones about but really not good enough. The originals are perfect, apart from not working !! Anyone know how to soften age-hardened rubber?

Why do you need exactly the same part? There are many out there that perform the same function and may even be better and look nicer, I've got similar to these on mine http://www.vikingyachting.se/Websho...ärn--amp-beslag/Dörrhållare-krom-20x34mm.aspx

And this looks similar to yours http://www.vikingyachting.se/Websho...gjärn--amp-beslag/Dörrstopp-nylon--gummi.aspx

You should find similar ones at any chandlery.
Thanks, those are the clips i'm looking for alright! They're not grey but that doesn't matter as they won't be seen. The reason I need a like for like is I don't want to go drilling more holes

Hi N., just spotted your update.
I'll try to ring the factory tomorrow.
MapisM thanks mate. If you don't have any luck i'll contact the website above to see if they'll post to Ireland

Alt, maybe (hopefully!) you already managed to find the clips in the meantime, but just as a brief follow up:
I did call the yard, but the engineer I met back in the days when I had a Z34 is not working there anymore.
They suggested me to send an email request with the pics, which I did.
But I'm afraid I didn't hear from them yet, and TBH I wouldn't hold my breath..... :(

Viking Yachting came straight back with an Invoice (I ordered 5) for 210 Krona which I thought very reasonable. They needed payment by SWIFT Bank transfer so my bank hefted a £10 fee onto the cost.

I'll now wait for them to arrive and hope they are the same size.

They must not like me, no response :( What e-mail address did you send to?
