...meant as the other warm place, not Great Britain! :D

Shame that I didn't plan to come for diving, and didn't bring any equipment.
Because right on the first swim, this is the close encounter we made in 2 m of water!
With apologies for the poor quality, but believe it or not the clip was taken with a Galaxy SIII sealed in a plastic bag.

Don't ask about the water temperature, I don't want to rage against you folks struggling with poor weather... :p

Hire some diving equipment!

Thread drift In Gozo at the moment Mapism. Six dives so far but better sea life in South of France. Did see a large moray eel out for a swim in daylight though.

you knew this was going to happen ! :)
but I apreciate its a hassle to take your stuff so far.
nice video, even with such camera gear
thanks for posting

Fantastic video mapisM - loved it. I had a nice few days of (big) turtle encounters last new years, at Tobago Cays. They swam all around the boat.

Again Harry ?
you were there not that long ago iirc ?

you will notice, SOF is the best diving area in the whole med AFAIK,

if you want better than that, you have to trafel much further;
Maldives, Galapagos, or following MapisM :)

Nice vid MapisM. Thanks for posting. Looks like you are having a fab time.

More like this, please!

Did you have a nice "office" in which to edit the footage, add the soundtrack and then upload the finished product? :D:D;);)

Hi H, glad to hear that you're having some good time!
A big eel out in daylight is not something you can spot every day... :)

I'll try to cut some other bits tonight, but can't promise a lot.
Lately, I tend not to "waste" much time with pics and clips, 'cause I find it's much nicer to just enjoy the swim and the moment - along the "life's too short" principle, if you get my drift.

Besides, I must say that in spite of the (almost) decent quality of the results, using the smartphone in the plastic bag is a big headache.
It takes multiple tries to make it accept any touch screen command... :(
If anyone is aware of some tricks to make the thingie work better, I'm all ears.
Also because I gifted the case to a non-diver friend of ours who is with us, and I expected/hoped it to be much easier to use.

I'll also try to add a bit of boating stuff later, having experienced an interesting fast ride on an alu cat, on some decent ocean swells.
It's the MoBo forum after all, innit? :)

PS: yeah thanks, my office is great! Right on the swimming pool and facing East, ready for viewing the solar eclipse of next week!
Though the Canados p/house is always in my heart of course... :D

Nice clip M, hope you enjoy your time 'down under'.
How extensive is the holiday, just Queensland or further afield?

Hi AM, yep, I'm definitely enjoying every bit of my time around here!
Been in SA already, and will stay in quite a few other places in the next couple of months.
But no plans to come to TAS, I'm afraid. As I recall, that's where you're located, right?
Anyway, it would be great to take the opportunity to meet, if we wouldn't be too far at some time.
I can pm you my trip details, if you are thinking to be elsewhere than in the Apple island in the near future.
How does a new year's eve in Sidney sound, for instance? :)

why didn't you take the gopro with you
Yep, in hindsight maybe I should have carried it, and also the u/w camera.
But as I said before, I developed some lack of interest in shooting pics & clips, lately.
As a matter of fact, it takes quite some time if you want to make something decent, both when shooting and when post-processing, and I'm not sure it's worth the hassle.
After all, memorable moments last forever in your mind anyway...
...and those which don't, probably weren't so memorable. :)
All that said, I thought that this reef on the outer side of the GBR was definitely worth at least a mobile pic! :D
