H,mm,hope they sort this. The pier is dead handy if you are staying in the dock,to either nip down the Greenwich to catch mainline trains or go up into town for a wander around.
The latest developments on Greenland Pier and the Thames Clippers service
are outlined in this message from Thames Clippers themselves:
"KPMG Thames Clippers, London’s leading river service provider, today
announced it plans to purchase Greenland Pier from current owners Southwark
Council in a move to secure the pier’s future as a commuter pier and vital
transport link.
Thames Clippers – who currently provide the only scheduled river service to
the pier – will initially operate Greenland Pier under a three month
license whilst it carries out necessary structural and legal assessments,
which will include a full underwater survey, to evaluate the condition of
the pier. Subject to the findings, Thames Clippers plans to take ownership
and the daily running of the pier.
Sean Collins, Managing Director of Thames Clippers, said: “In order to
safeguard the future of the pier and the daily journeys of hundreds of our
customers we entered the tender process. We are very pleased Southwark
Council has named us as preferred bidder and that we have secured the short
term future of Greenland Pier. We hope to secure its long term future over
the coming months.”
He added, “Our next steps will be to evaluate what immediate maintenance is
needed for the pier and look to carry it out with as little disruption as
possible. I would like to thank our passengers for their continued feedback
and support.”"
