Just 'phoned a chum on his mobile, thinking him to be in the City, to hear that he's racing aboard the newly restored cutter "Lulworth" at Cannes - jammy [--word removed--] !!!

At the risk of sounding like an old fart, I remember when she was moored in a mudberth on the Hamble next to Velsheda and served as home for (I think) the old lady who owned Crableck Boatyard. I was allowed on board once. She was a mess above decks, but down below was fabulous - loads of beautiful varnished wood, and acres of space.

She was absolutely massive, especially if you came alongside in a dinghy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Delighted to see her back, doing what she was built for, even if most of the original boat has been replaced.

I read an interview with said old lady, probably in the last issue of Classic Boat. I too remember in that mud berth but never had the chance of going aboard.

Excellent stuff. My chum currently saing onboard her says she is remarkably fast and responsive - trip of a lifetime I shouldn't wonder.
