I am going to need a small amount of green oak or other suitable timber for replacing ribs in my 10ft clinker dinghy. Can anyone point me to a good supplier in the north west or north wales
Thanks
Try these people I bought a Green Oak tree section 2ft 8in dia x 12ft from them some years ago now they are still going they have a circular saw sign on the road not many outfits will cut green Oak so get them to do it for you. They quarter sawn all the new ribs on Mercia III. See "G.U.Laws and Mercia III" lower down on page 2 or may be 3 now. When you have got your ribs cut put them in a brine bath to keep them green they will keep well like this for about 2 years but they must be totally submerged.
hi , try lawsons mill burscough lanc,s, they advertise in classic boat mag. i've got it from them in the past. also can usually provide reclaimed pitch pine.
