Yesterday we heard one side of a mayday call answered by the Greek Coast Guard station Olympia radio. Apparently a yacht reported a person missing overboard. CG asked their position and then responded telling them their coordinates indicated they were in Turkish waters and advising they should contact the Turkish Coast Guard. We were surprised Olympia did not at least rebroadcast the Mayday or contact the Turkish Coast Guard to advise them. About 10 minute later Olympia radio repeatedly tried to contact the boat on 16 but appeared not to get a response. We would have heard the Turkish coast Guard if they'd responded to a call on 16 but we heard nothing.
