Anyone come across Greek broker Greg Yachts? Be warned. My yacht is Not for sale he has approached me whilst I have been sailing in Greece and taken pictures of my yacht without permission. He is persistantly aggressive in trying to get me to sell with him. Very unproffesional unsavoury chap.

Yep met him. He's banned from the marina here on Crete for walking up the pontoons photographing any and all yachts he fancies and then trying to get them to sell. Nasty fellow. Aggressive too.

He should be banned from everywhere. My wife was very intimidated and upset. I did hear that he actually showed aboat that he had no right to be on to a client. Breaking and entering in my book? Any one else come across him? Dosen't he advertise in YM?

I met him in Patmos last year. He was perfectly polite and friendly, asked if I was interested in selling the boat, to which I replied no. Then chatted with him for a while, no problems at all. He is welcome to take pics of my boat, does me no harm whatsoever.

Vyv, I don't have a problem with people photographing my boat when I'm in ports and anchorages, I don't usually mind when I'm in a marina either, mainly because I'm usually on board. But I do have a problem (and so do many others in the marina here) with people wandering along the marina pontoons photographing many boats that are laid-up with their owners away. Who knows what they're using the pictures for? It would be very easy for a gang of thieves for example, to use these pictures to plan what they wanted to steal and from which boats. It was this guy wandering around photographing any boat that took his fancy that led to him being challenged by the marina, what got him banned was his arrogant claim that as a yacht broker he was entitled to go anywhere he wanted and photograph anything he wanted.

The marina here is open to the public, but the floating pontoons are chained-off, partly because most owners are unhappy about people photographing laid-up boats for purposes unknown. Anyone wanting to look at boats for sale or just look around the pontoons is welcome to do so but they require permission from the marina office and they're usually accompanied by a marinero.

I agree. What is he using the pictures for. I have heard that greg yachts posts them on his web site as for sale to make it look like he has more yachts .But charming or not he could also be stealing items off yachts.
He visits marinas and yards at the weekend when the yards are shut and there is no staff around. This raises concern. Has he been banned from these yards too? Surely a broker should not have any ban if they are legitimate.

I think they use photoshop to replace the heads of the performers in pornography with boats, and then spread them over the internet for potential abductors to make their fiendish plans. Or something. I'm sure I read about it on Mumsnet.
