We're planning to leave Greece from Chios and check in to Turkey at Cesme next month. Does anyone have recent experience of checking in at Cesme? Is there an anchorage or do we have to go into the marina?

Not checking in , however we checked out from Cesme last year. we originally intended to anchor off, but could not see any other boats at anchor so we stayed in the marina overnight, quite pricey but very nice place, worth it for one night. The office is just across the road from the marina.

We anchored just outside in 2005.
With the Meltem picking up we had to move inside the marina. ( Small boat and small dingy )
I remember the gully canal running straight trough the marina.
Had a big argument with someone of the passport police. Marina was just new then.
Anchorage no good except with your gear.
Islands North of Chesme are sometimes forbidden territory. We anchored there but rules change fast and all the time in Turkey.

Which marina did you go to, and when you say expensive, how expensive do you mean?

Aren't there 2? A Camper Nicholson one in town and a Setur one out of town........sorry but in our experience neither of these names are a cheap option.

Based on their published 2014 tariffs ( http://www.cnmarinas.com/marinas/tariff.htm?id=11&name=cesme-marina) you would be charged about 82 Euro per day plus water and electric.

Gold plated bollards (yes I said bollards) no doubt.

Albert

That's what we thought, but we're forever hopeful!
