Recently spotted swimming in the Skerries lagoon was this Great White fat *******.

Amusingly, as we were picking our way into the lagoon without a large scale chart, I went to the bows to con us in. Unfortunately, I was distracted by all the seals & Arctic Terns & we hit the "Historic Wreck" in the middle of the lagoon entrance! doh!

Fantastic place, but not unless the weather is perfect!

I dithered a while before I 'clicked' on this Post.
My trepidations were proved correct.
I now reach for the bottle of White and Mackay gifted to me earlier today
Hopefully said antidote will remove the vision of the basking image from my mind forever
Doubtfull but with a strong will and a large tumbler to hand I may erase and get my life back to 'normal'
Good grief , don't we have Moderators or something to prevent stuff like this?

"I say young man, do you know the whereabouts of a certain Mr Lakesailor"?

Its King Neptune on the hunt for Lakey, something about a name change and not being offered a drink.

Exotic marine life seen in North West coastal lagoon.

All this is tooo much.
Soon we will have the invasion of all them southern do goodies coming to the NW coast and demanding protection rights of this rare and delicate speeches.:D

bit bouncy last time we passed, but looks lovely as you say in perfect weather

Very busy few days. But I forgot my sun blocker & have a nose like a beetroot today.

Saw Philliz off Amlwch & Tom (Little Ship) whizzed past at Menai Bridge but not close enough for me to check out his fun box. Even Kwacka whizzed past on a mission with a big cheery wave. Anyway I got RTI (Anglesey of course) in 2 days & sailed about half of it before the wind gave out.

Porpoises off Lynas, Lion's mane jellyfish every where (son got stung at Porth Wen) and loads of birds catching sand eels for nestlings. Also kneedeep in sports boats driving aimlessly round in circles, wondering what else to do.

Yoh! couldn't stop we were on a misssion!
Those jellies are a beggar
Had to run one young fella ashore rapid like.
We saw him struggling
Been stung on the face by one.
Face all starting to swell and he had rather a bad reaction.
Got him to hossie by way of the Coastgaurd, seems He's doing ok.

At first we thought he had seen The Great White!!!!

Stu was lucky we think it was a loose tentacle & not "full powered" we treated it with vinager (Sting is alkaline we think!) so the reaction wasn't that bad.

BTW I have posted a link to the repositioned bouys chart on the Slipways thread, the CHT site has not yet been updated.

Is this "historic wreck" in the Ralph Morris book? I've fancied visiting there myself. It's been a while since I read the pilotage notes in RM's book, but I don't recall reading about a wreck.

Any tips for missing the sticky-up bits? (apart from not gertting distracted, that is...)

Oh and *please* tell me that you are wearing swimming trunks.....

:D

Andy,
I found a pair of Speedos in a locker, that's why you can't see them.

As you go in, keep to the left! Plenty of water close in but a shallow patch in the middle showing a little dark where the seals are;

We were quite near low water springs & the depth over the obstruction would be about 3'. I assumed it was a rock until we landed & saw a notice forbidding access to the "historic wreck" which could now have two dents in the top. Ooops:eek:

We only had Kemp with us, so no pilotage detail. I've just checked Morris & he identifies a small rock shoal in that location, but doesn't show it on the chart!
