Thank you to Gimmesunshine and Takeiteasy for recommending AJW Electrics in Wimborne.

Their service was so excellent, I thought I should share the details. After an alternator seizing on a Kad 32, I was facing a few hundred pounds for a new unit. Help from the forum pointed me towards AJW Electrics in Wimborne. I called Alan at AJW who said he could totally re-con my existing unit for about 70 quid.

So, I drove to Poole last evening and removed the alternator before dropping it with AJW at about 7.45pm. By 12.30 the today it was complete at a bargain price of £70. There's even a 6 month parts warranty.

Excellent service is rare these days so thought this was worth a mention. Not only was this considerably cheaper than the next cheapest re-con unit (c.£150) but it was on the doorstep to Poole, in Wimborne. Even though he treated the job as urgent to help me out, to have it done in a morning is superb. Alternator back on and working perfectly.

AJW operate from a workshop behind his bungalow and refurb starters, alternators etc. Number is 01202 885200.

Absolutely no commercial connection to AJW other than I am a satisfied customer!

To many folk think that you have to go back to Volsplutter, or whoever and pay exorbitant prices, whilst these priceless folk, go out of business. The stuff I sent to local engineers for fixing, when I was in manufacturing, is unbelievable. Theres nearly nothing that cant be mended, even better than new. Yet suckers these days, fall for the hype.

Here, Here, H, too many of us fall the "manufacturers" services, local guys round the corner are disapearing due to the hype. Generally the one man band is far superior as an engineer.

Certainly the small independents should be supported, in this vain can anybody suggest a Poole/Bournemouth local connexction for servicing a 20 yr old 35hp Mercury and a supplier of made to measure plexi glass screens?

Cheers,

N.
