Really audio great interview with Conrad Colman here:
http://sailinganarchy.com/2017/03/02/the-toughest-sailor-in-the-world/
He just finished the Vendee Globe after dismasting 800 miles from the finish line (it took him 4 solid days to set up a jury rig) and falling overboard at in the very middle of the southern ocean (after which he still had to re-raise his 80' sail.)
I think he is one of the best to express the incredible physical difficulties of singlehanding. He says that the hard days are hard, but then every other day is hard.

Last Sunday I broached my own little Olson 30 and was exhausted after getting the chute back on board. It's virtually impossible to imagine doing this on an IMOCA 60. But he had numerous Chines gybes during the race.

Give yourself an hour to listen to this, skip to about minute 7 of the audio to start the interview and to skip over the interviewer's foul language at the start.
