With the obvious exception of the Arrows tragedy on saturday, we made it to our 1st ever airshow from a watery perspective and what a fantastic few hours we had! The trip round was relatively smooth and enjoyable despite the downpour a 3rd of the way into it but we ploughed thru that and continued at a steady 17-20 knots with no problems whatsoever. We arrived to glorious sunshine and anchored up amongst the many lovely, sun drenched boats and just chilled whilst taking the obligitory snap shots of the planes and boats around us. We left at 4.15 and had an equally pleasant, trouble free ride back to Hamble. Confidence now growing nicely. So pleased we decided to make the trip. Will post pics later and you can see if you can spot yourselves maybe. Oh and what a difference a revamped prop and a clean bum makes! Next trip, Brixham when we have a week to spare...Can't wait!

Great too hear about people using their boats and enjoying themselves, that's what its all about...!! :):)

TBH I'm getting quite fed-up with all the negative threads about people upsetting each other & the mobo/raggie rivalry

BTW, where do you keep your boat?

James

Hi James, she's down at Hamble Point Marina so if ever you're around, call in for a cuppa or a beer. You're more than welcome :). Where are you?

Oops...just read your stats. Hi neighbour :)

Good For You

It's a great feeling when all goes well. Isn't it?

We were there on Friday but didn't see any planes cos we were early and it was too lumpy to anchor comfortably.

All was not lost though as we did see a pod of about 10 dolphins playing about 500 metres from where all the boats were anchored, and we just floated about watching them for a while.

I would post the photos but SWMBO was in charge of the camera and well..........

To be fair it's not really her fault as I couldn't do any better with the delay on our digital camera, but we do have a load of shots of the sea, oh and one fin.

No that's not us you're referring to, Marmite is moored at Swanwick Marina

Airshow pics (hopefully)

Ok, please bare with me while I make my 1st attempt at posting some pics. Pretty ordinary I'm afraid but here goes...
Wouldn't let me upload some coz they're too big I guess but here's what I managed...

Hope I haven't bored you too much :)
Lisa

Sorry, have no idea how to title pics but the bloke in the pic is my hubby Chris NOT me :). Anyone recognise their pride and joy at all?

Looking At the pics I think must've been fairly close to you. It looks like you were on the West side of the Pier? (You may have noticed a billy no mates raggie bobbing up and down).

I think I left just after the pair in your last photo finished their display due to a rather uncomfortable anchorage

Yeh thats where we were and it was a bit 'mobo city' wasn't it :). Saw a few saily boats cutting thru quietly and seamlessly amongst the mobos. Great day wasn't it? :)

Any day when you can see Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire is a great day. :) Always reminds me of going to Airshows with my late Dad when he'd point to the Hurricane and say "that's Daddies plane" :) He was ex BBMF (groundcrew).
Glad you enjoyed it too, to me there's more to boating than raggies and moboists having a go at each other.

Spotted Marmite on my pontoon at LYH over the weekend - looking very nice indeed!
