Last Friday we drove up from Cumbria to our boat which is moored at Linnhe Marine in Argyle.This was the first time this year that Josie had been able to come sailing and with a good forecast we were looking forward to a relaxing week.
Then disaster struck when at 14.00 hrs eight miles south of our mooring a stronger gust split the genoa in two.I hove to and rang Nick at Linnhe marine to ask if he could suggest any one local who might be able to repair the sail. He suggested Owen Sails and looked up a phone number for them. They said that if we got the sail to them before they closed for the weekend at 16.00 hrs that they would look at it.
A fast motor sail back to the mooring, a quick ferry from Nick and a ten mile drive found us at 16.35 opening there door.All the staff were leaving for the weekend but Diana looked at the sail, condemned it for being horrible and baggy (I thought it was in quite good condition) and promptly got on with repairing it. Two hours and a lot of cutting and stitching later we were on our way back to the boat and have had a great weeks sailing.
So thank you for great service from Nick at Linnhe Marine and an even bigger thanks to Diana at Owen Sails (other than being a customer I have no commercial connection with either company)
