Greasing rigging screws

Go for lanolin - the alternatives will wash or wear off in time - lanolin won't.

There are various lanolin based products available, but I have always used anhydrous lanolin BP (obtained from the chemists). Exposed portions will form a dry crust, but underneath that, and within the threads, it seems to stay fluid enough. You are not looking for ease of movement, rather you are attempting to prevent binding & galling.

I use something called PBC which stands for polybutylcuprisil. It is normally used on slow moving machinery parts and is unaffected by heat. Typical use is on the valve spindles of boiler fittings! Perhaps this is similar to the Copperease that you mention. Although it IS rather messy to use, you only need a little and that goes a long way. You simply wipe off any that is squeezed out onto the threads. I have had no trouble with siezing or galling and my boat is right in the middle of the Mediterranean.
Fair Winds!
