DSCN0899.jpgDSCN0900.jpg Hi folks trying to determine what sort of rudder assembley this is.On the pictures you can see there is a large nylon block with a hole I have assumed that this is a grease hole.there was no grease nipple or threads for one does anybody no if this is correct. There is a slight weep from the bottom of the block any Ideas would be welcome:)

Not sure if this helps.
Nylon bearing does not require greasing, it's self-lubricating material or water acts as lubricant; same goes for nylon-bronze. I'd suspect it is the case here, but I don't know this assembly - is the rudderstock turning in nylon? Looks as nylon upper bearing.

PS Slight weep from below the block suggests it's just a block of nylon inserted into a tube (or what is down there on your boat) and probably bolted down to the hull. Also suggests sealing of it is broken down there...
But that just as I suspect the way construction is.

The block dosen't move when rudder is turned. The shaft is SS.I have been looking through some original documents that came with the boat.
1.ss rudder tube with upper and lowerbronze bearings
2.ss top gland nut
3.gland packing
4.grease nipple.
This is from the original list from Colvic Craft.cannot see anywere else a grease nipple may go.thanks for your thoughts.
