Any ideas on how this would sink in the mud at Gravelines?

Am thinking of popping over there soon, but have never dried out with this keel and am a little sceptical. Do you think she'll be OK. We draw 1.4M.

Thanks

Mark

Went there last year.
new pontoons being installed and should be fully fitted out with lecky and water by now.
I draw just over 1 metre and had no problems. There were some fairly large yachts there.
Harbour master very helpful too and will be able to give advice
I don't think you should have a problem but make sure you arrive at HW because the channel from the sea is quite long and drys out .
Marina is locked . As I remember the sea bed is very soft inside .
Good luck
May visit there this B/H weekend so will ask for you if I go .I'll get back to you

We're also thinking of going this weekend.

If you do, look out for a Beneteau First30e (blue & white) with Balmain Bug inscribed in very amateurish lettering on the transom and pop in for a beer!

Weather dependant of course....

A Balmain Bug is a South Eastern Australian shrimp thing. The previous owner of the boat had australian connections and we quite liked the name so kept it (Bugsy to her friends).

We're from Ramsgate and will keep a look out for you.

Red wine is preferred as we don't have a fridge!

frequently visit Ramsgate, so easy ,about 3 1/2 hours from Folkestone. Good tide all the way. Will look out for you in future.
General feeling here is that the club want to go boulogne early sat (best for us is 5 am and scrape out on last of tide from f/s to get best run past griz nez ) . then maybe calais next day . about 6 boats at present and growing daily.Shame coz i really like g'lines.
ps i do have a fridge but still prefer red wine,
so that s what a balmain bug is !
best of luck ..........pete

pps General feeling here is that your keel will be no problem . ,should be deep enough and certainly soft if you do touch .
RSVP PETE ' orion of Folkestone'

Re:piere how do you rate the Eygthene as a cruising boat?

Theres one moored near me. I quite like the look of it and it goes well. How manageable is she in a blow?
