Been hectic in my house lately, been trying to fit a new kitchen before the weather breaks for antifouling.

Then all of a sudden I get been blessed with a lovely grandaughter. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

OK so the kitchen is now on hold and March is getting too close for comfort, I can handle it........or can I? SWMBO may place an order on me to down roller and seal the lid back on my Blakes, to commence unrapping flat packs and studying strange charts with rectangular shapes not known to Imray.

Such disorientation and panic I am feeling at present I would only describe as probably something like being caught in thick fog crossing the busy TSS in a 16' dinghy, or trying to sail blindfolded across Goodwin sands on an ebbing tide in a fin keeler drawing 3 mtrs!

Ah well.....no point in fighting it. I suppose its another case of "Que Sera Sera" but whatever the outcome its gonna be well worth it!

Congratulations,
I can thoroughly recomend grandkids. The only worry was that I started sleeping with a grannie!
You can start looking for an Oppie soon.

Have to say I'm adapting to this grandad thingy quite well, I have quickly caught on that when the nappy has been filled or fits of crying erupt.......you can quite simply hand the delicate little bundle back to her parents! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Congratulations and Welcome to the old farts club….

The best advice I can give any new grandfather is Lie through your back teeth and tell “mummy and daddy” what a pretty and interesting little thing she is…(that should raise a few shots).

I have 4 little gems (2 of each) and for the first year or so they are still great but coochy coo and all that kind of thing, just what the women folk both want and are mesmerised by.

(You seem to have cracked the nappy thing already.. Quick learner?? but watch out for them being sick down your back when you are de-burping them)

The real bonus for us chaps is when they get old enough to talk (Now they are really getting interesting).
Even better when they start walking (you can go anywhere with them and are instantly excused for what trouble you get them into).
Even better again when they get on board and want jobs to do, usually about 4 ish,

Two summers ago we had our second youngest 4 year old then wanting a job so he could be as important as his then 6 year old sister, I gave him the roving fender for mooring protection… It was Priceless….. I guess all the adults had most fun just watching his dedication as he would clip himself on the jackstays and proudly patrol the non berthing side with a fender almost as big as himself.

Finally don’t do ToysRus on the first Christmas, My Granddaughter Zoe was only 11 months old but I nearly bought the damn store out, I wound up borrowing other shoppers kids about the same size to see if they fitted little cars and 3 wheel bikes etc. fortunately the wife managed to drag me out before my plastic melted……..

In short what lucky chaps we are…. Boats and grandchildren…………….

Enjoy, the best is still to come……….. Peter

I have to admit that I'm not in the slightest bit jealous /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congrat's and best wishes , but the last post just reminded me why I'm not really into kids /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I am keeping an eye on this for any tips as my eldest daughter is due to present us with our first Grandchild in about 7 weeks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Attention Grandads!

Whilst you're all cooing, can I grab some attention?

Has anyone got an automatic hammar or similar child/toddler life jacket with integeral harness they wish to sell?

Daughter, son-in-law & Grandson (3 years old) will be spending a few days with us on board Emjaytoo this summer.

PM me if you can help.
