I have a GPS map556 and cannot see any mention of software or chart updates on Garmins' website. The unit came pre-loaded with UK & Ireland charts.##

Anyone know i9f there are any updates AND if they are free or how much they may be to buy?

Looks like it accepts Bluechart G2 maps which you can find here

ETA - it will also likely accept the older Garmin charts if you can find them.

I am a 'Garmin Man' (we all have our faults )

Also check/make sure that the new update can 'see' the new MMSI '970' code as well.

OK, sorry about that. A couple of possible reasons, their web-site is 'down' or that there is no software upgrade which I find doubtful otherwise they would not have posted the link in the first place. They are too professional for that!

I obtained the 970 upgrade at the LIBS in January but i had to ask for it.

Also have a 556. Asked G about this at LIBS. They said the 2012 update would be available online in March.
